Aspirant supports Mangochi school
Mangochi West parliamentary aspirant Stanley Phiri has pledged to build more primary schools and a secondary school to promote education, especially for girls if he wins the May 21 2019 Tripartite Elections.
Phiri, who is set to contest on UTM Party ticket, said this on Sunday in an interview after presenting 30 bags of cement to Mpata Junior Primary School, Traditional Authority (T/A) Nankumba in the district for the construction of the junior primary school’s toilets.
He said he will work with school management committees, village development committees and area development committees and traditional leaders, saying these are instrumental in community development.
“I was approached by the communities to support them and I accepted. The situation was bad,” he said.
Phiri said he was happy that communities in the area are interested in educating their children.
School committee chairperson Dennis Mpaso thanked Phiri, saying the institution has struggled financially for a long time to build toilets.
“We have been looking forward to support of this nature. The development will help us meet our dream of educating our children in a conducive environment,” he said. n
